Doing it, one step at a time
Install it for your platform
Phones and Android televisions get it from Google Play. Firesticks require a sideload by way of Downloader, which the Firestick page sets out in full. Samsung and LG list it in their own stores under the name IPTV Smarters. Apple users should search for IPTV Smarters Player. Desktop installers for Windows and macOS come from the developer's own website, and nowhere else is worth trusting for them.
Choose the Xtream Codes option
Accept the terms on the first screen and pick Login with Xtream Codes API. Ignore the M3U route unless support has specifically pointed you at it. Xtream pulls the programme guide and the on-demand library by itself; M3U frequently does not, and the resulting empty guide is then blamed on the subscription.
Enter your details
Any profile name, then the username, password and server address including http:// and the port, exactly as sent on WhatsApp. Tap Add User. If it refuses, the server field is the problem far more often than the password is, and a trailing space picked up from the chat is the usual mechanism.
Let the guide fill itself in
Channels, on-demand titles and programme data all begin arriving at this point. The guide in particular may take several minutes to populate properly, so resist judging it after half a minute — a guide that is partly loaded looks exactly like one that is broken. While you wait, open Settings, then EPG, and enable "Enable EPG on live TV" so the guide is visible over a playing channel.
Learn the two settings that matter most
Almost every complaint about Smarters comes down to two things. The first is the decoder, covered below. The second is the EPG timeshift, which sits under Settings, EPG, and quietly shifts the entire guide by an hour if it is wrong. Check both before deciding anything about the service, because a guide displaying yesterday's schedule makes a perfectly good subscription feel broken.
Set the player correctly
Go to Settings, then Player settings, and choose the built-in player with hardware decoding. If one channel stutters while everything else behaves, change that single channel to software decoding from the player menu rather than altering the global setting. Getting this the wrong way round is behind a great many complaints that were never about the service.
Then go and test it honestly
Open your own channels, at your own hour, on the screen you will really use. Smarters being installed everywhere makes this easy to do badly: a channel playing on your phone over 5G proves very little about what the television will do on Saturday evening. Use the test line for the difficult case, not the easy one.
When it does not work
Your account is expired
That is the subscription reaching its end date rather than a fault in the app, and the wording alarms people unnecessarily. Renew on WhatsApp and the identical credentials begin working again within minutes. Nothing needs reinstalling, no settings are lost, and your favourites survive intact.
The channel list is empty after a successful login
Refresh with a downward pull, then sign out and in again. Where it stays blank, something in the server address is wrong and the port is the likely culprit: the application will happily accept the sign-in while being quite unable to fetch anything behind it. That combination reads as a contradiction and is in fact the ordinary case rather than a rare one.
The app keeps closing on a Firestick
Clear its cache under Settings, Applications, Manage installed applications, then reopen it. If it persists, remove it and install a current build. An old APK sitting on a stick that has since updated Fire OS is a common cause and no amount of cache clearing will fix that particular version of it.
The guide is right but shifted by an hour
A timezone setting, not a data problem. Check the device clock is on automatic and that the app's own EPG timeshift is at zero. Two separate places, and people generally adjust the one that was already correct.
The on-demand section is empty but live TV works
The catalogue loads separately from the channel list and takes longer, particularly on a first run. Give it a few minutes and refresh. If it is still empty after that, you may have logged in with an M3U link rather than the Xtream option, which does not carry the on-demand library at all.

The application costs nothing on every platform it exists on, and that has always been true. Where people come unstuck is that it turns up completely empty — it holds no channels whatsoever of its own, and nothing appears until a subscription has been entered into it as an Xtream login. No money is ever taken inside the app, by us or by anybody else.
What is an IPTV Smarters Pro subscription?
Strictly speaking, no such thing is sold. What people typing that phrase are after is a service that functions inside the application, and that is what this is: an Xtream Codes account holding the channel list and the on-demand catalogue, set up once and thereafter working across every device you own. The player and the subscription are separate products from separate parties.
Smarters or TiViMate?
Smarters costs nothing, is more straightforward and exists everywhere. TiViMate carries a much stronger guide along with recording and multi-view, asks roughly ten dollars a year, and lives on Android alone. Where live sport is the reason you are here, TiViMate earns that back quickly. Where you want one interface across a household of mixed devices, Smarters does the job and costs nothing to find out.
Can I use it on several devices at once?
Install it anywhere you like; the plan limits simultaneous streams, not installations. Where households get caught is assuming a one-stream plan means one device — it does not, it means one at a time. Two people wanting different channels simultaneously need the two-stream tier.
Which version should I install? There seem to be several.
There are, and the naming is genuinely confusing: IPTV Smarters Pro, IPTV Smarters Player and various region-specific builds. Take whichever your platform's store offers under one of those names, from the developer Whmcs Smarters. Avoid anything charging for the app itself, because the genuine one has never cost money.
Why does it look different on my phone and my television?
There are separate builds for mobile and for television interfaces, laid out for a touchscreen and for a remote respectively. The settings are in different places and a few options exist on one and not the other. Same account, same login, different shell — worth knowing before you go hunting for a menu that is not there.
